Pole position for Fernando Alonso at Singapore

Fernando AlonsoDouble world champion Fernando Alonso grabbed today at the Marina Bay street circuit in Singapore his and Ferrari’s second consecutive pole position in the season.

The Spaniard clocked a best time of 1:45.390, beating by 0.067 seconds Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel (1:45.457) and by 0.181 McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton (1:45.571).

Reigning world champion Jenson Button qualified fourth (1:45.944), ahead of Red Bull’s Mark Webber (1:45.977), Williams’ Rubens Barrichello (1:46.236), Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg (1:46.443), Renault’s Robert Kubica (1:46.593), Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher (1:46.702) and Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi (1:47.884).

Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari qualified 11th and was followed by Nico Hulkenberg in the Williams, Vitaly Petrov in the Renault, team mate Sebastien Buemi, Nick Heidfeld in the Sauber and Adrian Sutil and Tonio Liuzzi in the two Force Indias.

Felipe Massa ended up last with no time set after being hit by an engine or gearbox failure after ten minutes into Q1.
