Mika Hakkinen’s villa destroyed by fire

Mika Hakkinen - villaA villa destroyed, a dog killed and two women escaped injury. This is the outcome of a fire broke out inside a villa owned by Mika Hakkinen, F1 double world champion in 1998 and 1999, in the village of Callian in the south of France. According to news agencies, the fire broke out the night between Friday and Saturday.

At that time two women were inside the house, Hakkinen’s partner and a friend of hers, who escaped injury but were taken to a hospital in Frejus as a precautionary measure. Unfortunately, the dog of one of the two women was found dead.

At 4.30 am, the fire would have started on the first floor of the 800 square feet villa were the trophies won by Hakkinen were displayed. “Only the ground floor remained intact”, local police has stated.

According to the first investigations the fire would have been caused by an electrical fault.
