Mark Webber wins the 2010 Spanish Grand Prix 

Alonso finishes second, Vettel third

Mark WebberRed Bull’s Mark Webber took a dominant win today at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain after leading the Spanish Grand Prix from start to finish.

Local hero Fernando Alonso finished second thanks to Hamilton’s crash in the penultimate lap due to a front left puncture, while Sebastian Vettel ended up third.

Fourth place for Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher, fifth for McLaren’s Jenson Button, sixth for Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, seventh for Force India’s Adrian Sutil, eighth for Renault’s Robert Kubica, ninth for Williams’ Rubens Barrichello and tenth for Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari.

2010 Spanish Grand Prix, lap by lap highlights:

Formation lap: Red Bull’s Mark Webber starts from pole position ahead of team-mate Sebastian Vettel. Behind the Red Bull pair, there’s McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. McLaren’s Jenson Button starts fifth ahead of Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher, Renault’s Robert Kubica, Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg, Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi rounding up the top ten. Renault’s Vitaly Petrov, Virgin Racing’s Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi, along with HRT’s Karun Chandhok have all been handed five-place grid penalties after qualifying. Heikki Kovalainen being wheeled in the pitlane minutes ahead of race start.

Race start: Lights go off…race start! Great start for Webber, he’s in P1. Massa into P7. Vettel P2, Hamilton P3, Alonso P4.

Lap 2/66: Webber in the lead followed by Vettel, Hamilton and Alonso. de la Rosa pits after a puncture. Senna has retired in the HRT.

Lap 3/66: Replays show Senna going off into the gravel. Senna retires.

Lap 5/66: Webber P1, then Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso, Button, Schumacher, Massa, Sutil and Alguersuari.

Lap 8/66: Webber still leading the Grand Prix. Retired drivers so far: Bruno Senna and Heikki Kovalainen.

Lap 9/66: Fastest lap for Webber.

Lap 23/66: Race control: drive through penalty for Buemi for rejoining in Turn 1. Alguersuari makes it past Hulkenberg for P11.

Lap 25/66: Massa has a slightly damaged front wing after a touch with Chandhok.

Lap 27/66: Fastest lap for Vettel: 1:26.878.

Lap 28/66: Fastest lap for Webber: 1:26.655.

Lap 29/66: Massa still running with a damaged front wing. Chandhok pits for a front wing swap. The Indian had a collision with Alguersuari.

Lap 31/66: Chandhok retires.

Lap 32/66: Webber still leading followed by Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso and Schumacher.

Lap 33/66: Hulkenberg pits from P14.

Lap 34/66: Drive through penalty for Alguersuari after the collision with Chandhok.

Lap 37/66: Rosberg pits from P15.

Lap 40/66: Yet another fastest lap for Webber.
