Mark Webber grabs Spa pole position
Hamilton second, Kubica third.
Red Bull’s Mark Webber took another pole position today at the historic Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, beating by 0.085 seconds McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton.
Webber clocked a best time of 1:45.778, while Hamilton a 1:45.863 and third placed Robert Kubica in the Renault a 1:46.100.
Sebastian Vettel qualified fourth (1:46.127), ahead of Jenson Button (1:46.206), Felipe Massa (1:46.314), Rubens Barrichello (1:46.602), Adrian Sutil (1:46.659), Nico Hulkenberg (1:47.053) and Fernando Alonso (1:47.441). The two Ferrari drivers failed to improve their lap times during the last flying attempt, when light rain begun to fall at Turn 1 in the final minutes.
Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher ended up 11th fastest but will drop 10 places in the grid, in P21, after his Hungaroring penalty, while team-mate Nico Rosberg will drop to P17 after a gearbox change before qualifying.
