Hungarian GP: Fisichella demoted to 13th position

Giancarlo Fisichella Renault F1 TeamGiancarlo Fisichella, Renault F1 Italian driver, will start today’s Hungarian Grand Prix at Hungaroring from the 13th position after being punished by the stewards for blocking Sakon Yamamoto’s Spyker during Saturday’s Qualifying Session. Fisichella has been demoted by five grid positions (was 8th).


According to race stewards decision, Fisichella blocked Yamamoto for almost an entire lap during Yamamoto’s second run in the opening phase of qualifying. At this point, with Fisichella’s and Alonso’s demotion, the only driver in the top ten who will start from the grid position that he qualified in, will be Polish BMW driver Robert Kubica (7th).
