Hamilton grabs Singapore Grand Prix pole position 

Qualifying red flagged after Barrichello's crash

Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton took his third pole position of the season for Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix after an early end of the qualifying session following a crash by Brawn GP’s Rubens Barrichello that brought a red flag.

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel (1:48.204) ended up second ahead of Williams’ Nico Rosberg (1:48.348), team-mate Mark Webber (1:48.722) and Brawn GP’s Rubens Barrichello (1:48.828).

The Brazilian however, will start the Singapore Grand Prix from the tenth spot as he was handed a five place grid penalty for a gearbox change before qualifying.

Renault’s Fernando Alonso managed up to 6th (1:49.054) and was followed by Toyota’s Timo Glock (1:49.180), BMW’s Nick Heidfeld (1:49.307), Robert Kubica (1:49.514) and McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen (1:49.778).

Championship leader Jenson Button finished only 12th fastest ahead of Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi, Toyota’s Jarno Trulli, Force India’s Adrian Sutil, Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari and Ferrari’s Giancarlo Fisichella.
