Fernando AlonsoReports from Italy and Spain are saying that negotiations between Fernando Alonso and Renault for a deal have momentarily stopped. The daily sports newspaper, Marca, claims that while team boss Flavio Briatore is happy to accept Alonso’s demands for a contract valid only through 2008, Carlos Ghosn, Renault’s CEO, is refusing to proceed on the offer if a 3 year deal condition is not met.

Rumors are saying that Fernando Alonso wants only a 1 year contract because he has already agreed to sign with Ferrari in 2009, even if Kimi Raikkonen will be under contract to the end of 2009 and Felipe Massa recently confirmed to the end of 2010.

The wire service Agenzia Giornalistica Italia quotes Ghosn as confirming: “It’s three years or nothing.”
