Timo Glock demoted to 14th for gearbox change
Timo Glock has been demoted to 14th position after his team was forced to change the gearbox on his TF108. The German had problems with the gearbox since this morning’s practice. With the new rule for 2008, the FIA has imposed that gearboxes must last for four consecutive races or else drivers will get a five-place grid penalty. FIA’s Article 28 – Gearboxes, states: “Each driver may use no more than one gearbox for four consecutive Events in which his team competes. Should a driver use a replacement gearbox he will drop five places on the starting grid at that Event and an additional five places each time a further gearbox is used.”
